Men quizzed after teenage girl grabbed in Sunderland

TWO men have been arrested after a teenage girl was grabbed from a car window.

The attack happened in Rawmarsh Road in Red House, Sunderland, at 9.45am today.

Police say the girl had been approached by the men, who were in a vehicle, and they spoke to her.

When she tried to leave, the passenger reached through the window and took hold of her arm.

She then ran off.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and are in police custody.

The vehicle the pair were in has been recovered.

Detective Inspector Dave English, said: “We understand incidents such as this do cause concern among our communities.

“However, I’d like to reassure people that we believe this to be an isolated incident and two men have been arrested and are helping with our inquiries.

“Extra patrols will be carried out in the area to offer reassurance to residents and address any concerns they may have.
“We’re carrying out inquiries to establish exactly what happened and anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information is asked to get in touch.”
