TWO men have appeared in court accused of burgling more than 30 petrol stations and convenience stores.

Lee Barnett, of Clinton Place, East Herrington, and Gary Rarity, of South Street, West Rainton, were arrested following a joint operation by Durham and Northumbria police.

Durham Crown Court was told other suspects may be charged at a later date.

No charges were put to Barnett, 36, or Rarity, 29, during a short preliminary hearing.

The case was until August 31 and both men remanded in custody until then.
