A DOG killed a cat when it was savaged in the street.

The attack happened in Stockley Avenue, in Wear View, Sunderland, when a dog believed to be a lurcher struck, causing fatal injuries.

Officers are keen to trace a turquoise blue Corsa that was in the area at the time.

It is thought there were four or five men, aged in their late teens or early 20s in the car.

Neighbourhood Inspector Anthony Carty said: “It would appear that one of the men got out of the car with the dog and deliberately let it chase the cat. The dog then attacked and killed the cat.
