Masked raider left Sunderland man terrified

Have your say

A TERRIFIED homeowner was approached by a masked man who grabbed him before making off.

Police said they also believed the attacker was in possession of a weapon.

The man had his face covered when he struck at an address in Portsmouth Road, Penyywell, at about 6.30pm on Tuesday.

His victim – a man in his 30s – was in an outhouse attached to his home – when the attacker approached and grabbed him by his clothing. He did not assault him or speak, and then fled without stealing anything.

Police have carried out house-to-house inquiries in the area.

Detective Sergeant Simon Auty said: “Inquiries are in the very early stages, and we’re doing everything possible to establish the circumstances and find the person responsible. Thankfully, no-one was injured, but obviously the victim and others present at the scene were left shocked by the incident.
