A MAN has been told he will face no further action after he was arrested in connection with the death of a grandmother.

Carole Hagan, 56, of South Hylton, died in Sunderland Royal Hospital last month after receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Northumbria Police were called by staff to the hospital because of the seriousness of Ms Hagan’s condition, and she died at about 3.20pm on Saturday, September 7. It is thought she had been admitted some weeks earlier and was being treated for a fracture to her hip.

A 69-year-old man, who was known to the grandmother, was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further inquiries.

Those investigations have now been finalised and the man has been told he will face no further action.
