Man taken to hospital with injuries to face and head after suspected attack at petrol station

A man was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries after a suspected assault at a petrol station on Easter Sunday.

Durham Constabulary is appealing for help as it investigates the incident at the Plawsworth filling station off the A167 near Chester-le-Street, at around 4pm on April 12, which left a man with injuries to his face and head.

A force spokesperson said: “The victim – a man in his 20s - was walking across the petrol station forecourt when he was assaulted leaving him with facial injuries, which required hospital treatment.

“We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, either in their car or on foot, who witnessed the incident.

“We would also appeal to anyone with any dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.”
