A man was left with serious head injuries following a suspected attack inside a house.

Northumbria Police officers were called to Girven Terrace, a short distance off the A182 Pemberton Bank in Easington Lane, following reports of a disturbance earlier today, Wednesday, April 8.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Shortly before 1pm today we received a report of an assault inside a property on Girven Terrace, Easington Lane.

“Officers attended the scene where they found a 25-year-old man with serious but non-life-threatening head injuries.

“Inquiries into this incident are ongoing but the victim and offender are believed to be known to each other, with no wider risk to the public.

“Extra patrols are being carried out to offer community reassurance and anyone with concerns should approach an officer.”
