Man jailed for unlawfully possessing knife in Sunderland street

A man caught illegally carrying a lock knife in public has been jailed.

Thirty-seven-year-old David Lee was imprisoned for three weeks after admitting unlawfully possessing an offensive weapon in Panns Bank, Sunderland, on September 18.

South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court decided to jail him after deciding that the offence was so serious because of his previous offending history.

Lee, of no fixed address, also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis on the same date and was ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
