A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a stabbing at a Wearside call centre.

David Martin is accused of attacking a woman as she walked through a car park at EDF Energy, at Doxford International Business Park, Sunderland.

The woman, in her 20s, was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, though her injuries were described as “not life-threatening”.

The 29-year-old, of Telford Road, Thorney Close, has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

Martin was remanded in custody after he was refused bail at Sunderland Magistrates Court yesterday.

He will appear at Newcastle Crown Court on May 31.

No pleas were entered.
