Man in court over £86k homes damage

A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing a total of £86,000 damage to his home and his neighbour’s after it caught fire in an explosion said to have been caused by a cannabis farm.

Dean Day entered no plea to a charge of causing criminal damage worth £53,000 to the East Durham Homes property in Dunelm Walk, Peterlee, where he had lived with his family, or to the same charge of causing £33,000-worth of damage to the adjoined privately-owned home.

The case was sent to Durham Crown Court, Day, 30, now of Station House, Murton, was released on bail.
