A HUNGRY drinker ended up in the cells after a misunderstanding over a takeaway led to an argument.
Liam Jones, 23, had been out on September 6 when staff at the Red Chilli in Holmeside got his order mixed up, Sunderland magistrates heard.
But Jones, of East Vines, Hendon, started shouting and swearing, which continued after police arrived.
He admitted being drunk and disorderly.
Peter Thubron, mitigating, said: “He accepts he’d had a drink. He ordered his food and got the wrong food.
“Unfortunately, he used the wrong language to discuss what had gone wrong.
“One of the staff did come out with the right food and change. It was a genuine misunderstanding. It was just the way he stood up for his rights at 4am.”
Jones was given a one-year conditional discharge and was told to pay £85 costs.
