A MAN is recovering from a head wound after a suspected bottle attack outside a bar.

The 23-year-old had been in the Wishing Well in North Terrace, Seaham, on Saturday as a disturbance broke out when a woman was asked to leave just after 11pm.

It is believed his injury, which needed hospital treatment, was caused by a Pinot Grigio wine bottle when he got caught up in the fracas.

A man in his mid-50s was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and a man in his early-20s for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Detectives believe 20 people were in the bar and have urged witnesses to come forward.
