Man foils robbery

A GOOD Samaritan foiled a robbery after tripping up a bag snatcher.

The passer-by intervened after spotting a 67-year-old man, who was carrying cash to a bank, being robbed.

The man’s bag was taken from the victim’s hands and the would-be robber attempted to run off when he was tripped over.

A scuffle broke out before he dropped the bag and ran off with a small amount of money.

The victim suffered minor injuries during the incident which happened at 1.10pm on Wednesday at The Green, Southwick.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly the passer-by who intervened, to come forward.
