A man accused of a pub knife attack has denied attempted murder.
Steven Robinson is claimed to have repeatedly stabbed Stephen Fortune at the Oaklands, Durham Way, Peterlee, in July.
During a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday the 40-year-old pleaded not guilty to a single charge of attempted murder.
Robinson, of Elliott Road, Peterlee, will be tried by a jury next January and has been remanded in custody.
Police who were called to the bar found Mr Fortune bleeding heavily from several stab wounds.
He was taken to James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough in a serious condition.
The pub was closing at the time but there were number of staff and customers present.
