A SUNDERLAND man denied fraud and breaching a non-molestation order.

David Lynn, 38, of Tower Street West, Hendon, is alleged to have made a false statement to Durham County Council, the court heard.

Lynn pleaded not guilty to fraud and breach of the order, both offences alleged to have taken place on June 18.

The court was told the case revolves around a telephone call Lynn made to an official at the council about liability for council tax on a property in Shotton Colliery.

Prosecutor Jonnie Walker said the call could have caused financial loss to the woman living in the property,

Judge Christopher Prince adjourned the case for another directions hearing on November 3. He set a provisional trial date of January 12. Lynn was released on bail.
