BURGLARS who broke into a Sunderland pub and attacked a man early today are being hunted by police.
Police are appealing for information about the aggravated burglary, which happened at 5.50am at the Gleneagles pub in Gleneagles Road, Grindon.
Two men went into the pub armed with a iron bar and demanded money.
The resident of the pub suffered a head injury, which is not believed to be life-threatening.
He was transferred to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.
One man, aged 42, has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and is helping police with their inquiries.
Extra officers are out on patrol in the area to offer reassurance to residents.
