A MAN suffered a broken nose and hand during an early-morning attack.
The incident took place at about 3am on Friday on the south side of the Wearmouth Bridge, next to St Mary’s car park.
Two men were walking in the area when they were approached by another two men.
The men then asked them for a cigarette.
A fight broke out and the pair attacked them before fleeing the scene.
One of the victims suffered a broken nose and broken hand.
He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “One of the attackers is described as being Asian, around 18-years-old, of medium build and with short black hair and stubble.
“The second is described as being white, around 18-years-old, of slim build and with short light brown or blonde hair.
“He was wearing a yellow waterproof jacket.”
