A man needed hospital treatment after being attacked in his own home.
The 59-year-old was left with minor injuries after three men forced their way into a flat in The Avenue, Sunderland.
They escaped with a mobile phone. The aggravated burglary happened between 12.30am and 1am on Monday November 30.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
Three men aged 41, 39 and 27 have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail.
Detective Inspector Paul Stewart said: "Our enquiries into this burglary are continuing and we're asking anyone with information to get in contact."
