Man arrested after Halloween mask robbery in Sunderland

POLICE investigating a robbery at a Sunderland newsagents have arrested a man.

The robbery took place at Hylton Road News store in Hylton Road at 6.16am, Tuesday May 27 when a man burst in to the family-run business wearing a Halloween mask and armed with a hammer.

Officers have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and he remains in custody helping police with their enquiries.
