A driver has admitted seriously injuring a 10-year-old girl who was hit by a car.
Neil Monck pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving in relation to the crash at Hendon, Sunderland, on April 3.
The young victim spent weeks in hospital after she was knocked down at Villette Road in the town.
Monck, 29, of Cairo Street, Hendon, also admitted driving with excess alcohol.
Simon Perry, 28, also of Cairo Street, Hendon, who is said to have been travelling on the same stretch of road and also faces a charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, pleaded not guilty.
He will be tried by a jury on January 25.
Monck will be sentenced after the trial of his co-accused.
Both men were granted bail in the meantime.
