Man, 28, released under investigation as probe into large fight in Sunderland street continues

A 28-year-old man, who was arrested following a brawl in Purley Road, in Plains Farm, has been released under investigation as inquiries into the disturbance continue.

The man, who remained in police custody yesterday, has now been released under investigation.

Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At about 3.20am on Thursday morning police received a report of a disturbance on Purley Road in Plains Farm.

“Officers attended and established there had been a large fight in the street.

“Two men were taken to hospital but they are not believed to have suffered any life-threatening injuries.

“Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to report it online at the Northumbria Police website quoting log 100 23/04/20.”

The North East Ambulance Service was also called in the wake of the incident.

A spokesperson for the service said: “We were called to a private address in the Plains Farm area of Sunderland at 3.39am today.

“We sent a double-crewed ambulance and took one patient to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.”
