CCTV images of Tipu Sultan’s alleged killers travelling to and from the scene of his murder have been expertly examined, jurors have heard .
Prosecutors claim Michael Mullen drove gunman Michael McDougall by motorbike to Herbs & Spice Kitchen, in South Shields – where the 32-year-old takeaway boss was shot.
Both men deny murder and are being tried by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court
Jurors have viewed footage of the bike which prosecutors claim was used by the killers.
The footage is dark and unclear and not much detail appears visible to the naked eye.
The court heard the recordings were subjected to a detailed examination by forensic image analyst Matthew Cass.
Mr Cass told jurors he thought the bike, which had two riders, was “mid -sized”.
He said the vehicle could be “a commuter-type bike”.
Prosecutors claim the alleged killers travelled to Mullen’s then girlfriend’s house after the shooting, where they dumped the bike and hid the gun.
It is alleged the men then travelled to the house of a woman friend of McDougall‘s.
Mullen, 24, of Hawthorne Avenue, South Shields, and McDougall, 47, of Hylton Avenue, South Shields, both deny murder, manslaughter and possession of a firearm.
Mullen denies conspiring to pervert the course of justice and McDougall denies a further possession of a firearm charge.
l The trial continues.
