A JEALOUS boyfriend burst into a family home armed with a screwdriver while looking for a love rival.

Stephen Rose walked in through a patio door at the house in Sunderland to confront his friend Callum Wilson, who he believed has started a relationship with his ex.

A nine-year-old schoolboy was present in the house at the time.

Newcastle Crown Court heard residents at the house calmed the 28-year-old down before any real harm was done.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

Rose, of Broomfield Drive; East Rainton, admitted affray on the basis he was “very upset” to find out his long term ex was seeing his friend.

Bob Sprang, defending, said: “That evening he was told his friend was having a serial relationship with his partner and saw red.”

The court heard Rose has previous convictions but has a job and is back together with his ex.

Mr Recorder William Lowe sentences Rose to four months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with supervision, 160 hours unpaid work and £750 costs.

The judge told him:”You are getting quite a record for violence and if there’s any more you are going to end up going to prison which is a waste of your life.”
