Investigation launched after robbery at Park Lane Cards & Gifts in Houghton

Police have launched an investigation after receiving reports that a man had stolen money from a shop in Houghton.

Police received a report of a robbery at Park Lane Cards & Gifts.

Shortly after 5pm on Tuesday, January 7, Northumbria Police received a report of a robbery at Park Lane Cards & Gifts on Newbottle Street in Houghton.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “It was reported that a man entered the shop and grabbed a quantity of money out of a member of staff’s hand before making off.”

“The employee was left shaken but uninjured.”

An investigation has been launched into this incident by police officers and inquiries are currently ongoing.
