THE inquest into the death of a Sunderland man who was found in a field has been opened.
The body of Michael Outhwaite, 42, was discovered in Willington, near Crook, in County Durham, on Friday, September 12.
A post-mortem examination revealed that he died of stab wounds.
Earlier this month, Daniel Robert Oxley, 22, of High Street, Willington, appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court charged with murder.
He was remanded in custody and will appear at Durham Crown Court on Monday at 10am.
At a short hearing at Crook Civic Centre yesterday, Durham coroner Andrew Tweddle formally opened the inquest into Mr Outhwaite’s death.
The case was adjourned until a review is carried out on Tuesday, December 16.
