AN INQUEST is due to open into the death of a grandmother whose body was found buried on moorland.

A search was launched for 55-year-old Pamela Jackson after she disappeared from her home in The Crescent, Chester-le-Street, on Saturday, March 2.

Officers from Durham Constabulary are working alongside West Yorkshire Police, with searches carried out in County Durham and in West Yorkshire, and with marine units, mountain rescue and helicopters drafted in as part of the effort.

Ms Jackson, who was mum to Andrew, Christopher and Joe, was found in Ripponden, West Yorkshire, on May 25 in a shallow grave on moorland, around 60m from a road.

A post mortem examination found she died of head injuries.

An inquest into her death will be opened by the coroner at his offices in Crook on Monday.

Adrian Muir, 50, from Halifax, has been charged with her murder and is awaiting trial.
