Injured man outside Wearside pub

DETECTIVES are trying to piece together how a man became injured outside a pub.

The man was taken to hospital by paramedics after he was discovered on the ground outside The Brewers Arms, in Front Street, Hetton.

Police taped off the scene while they investigated the incident.

The man is being treated in Sunderland Royal Hospital. Police have described his condition as “improving”.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

“At this time inquiries are ongoing to establish how he got his injuries.”

Police received a report about the injured man at about 11.15pm on Wednesday.
