JEWELLERY worth thousands of pounds was stolen in a raid on a home in Cleadon.

Four men, dressed in boiler suits and gloves and with their faces covered, entered the house shortly after 11pm on Monday.

The occupant, an elderly man, was not hurt during the incident. The four escaped in the homeowner’s car.

Acting DI Neil Wynd said: “These men would have looked out of place all dressed in boiler suits. We’re appealing for anyone who saw them to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“We’re carrying out inquiries and doing everything possible to trace the men and recover the stolen property.”
