HOUSEHOLDERS disturbed burglars as they trawled through their homes.

On Monday, a man crept through an open bathroom window into a house on Somerset Terrace, East Boldon, at about 1pm.

He was forced to flee empty-handed after the resident returned home.

The thief wore a navy blue baseball cap and a light blue jacket.

At just before 1.55am yesterday, police received a report of three men who broke into a house on Snowdon Grove, West Boldon.

They were also disturbed by the occupant and ran off in the direction of Hall Gardens with two sets of car keys.

The intruders were all about 5ft 5in tall and possibly in their teens.

Two wore hoodies. One was dark grey and the other dark red.
