Four charged over Sunderland robbery

A man and three youths have been charged after an alleged robbery and burglary in Sunderland.

At 11.05pm on Saturday, there was a burglary at The Avenue, in Ashbrooke.

A 66-year-old man suffered a minor injury as a result of being punched during the burglary. A laptop and keys to a mini were stolen in the burglary. The car was also stolen.

Fifty minutes later, a 23-year-old man was robbed at the cashpoint at the Esso Service Station in Durham Road, near Barnes Park. The man suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

Matthew Frederick Fox, 26, of Ash Crescent in Seaham, has been charged with burglary and robbery and a 17-year-old male has been charged with burglary, robbery, theft of motor vehicle, possessing a knife, blade or sharp pointed article and threatening a person with bladed/pointed instrument in public place.

A second 17-year-old male has been charged with burglary, robbery and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

All three will appear at Newcastle Crown Court on November 16.

A third 17-year-old male has been charged with burglary, robbery and assault occasioning actual bodily harm and is due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates Court on November 12.
