Ferrari men beat victim with cosh

A MAN was left with face and head injuries after being ambushed in a street attack.

The 47-year-old was found slumped in the garden of an address on Harthope Close, Rickleton, at about 9pm on Saturday.

He told police he was walking towards a bus stop on Vigo Lane when a black Ferrari pulled up alongside him. Two men got out of the vehicle and assaulted him but he managed to run away.

The same men then approached him as he walked on Harthope Close and assaulted him a second time with what has been described as a cosh-type weapon.

The man suffered several head and facial injuries and was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing wounding with intent. A black Ferrari has also been seized.

Police are keen to speak to witnesses.
