FAKE TV floggers on Sunderland doorsteps

Have your say

FAKE television sellers are flogging empty boxes on doorsteps in Sunderland.

Police are advising people to be on their guard after a report of the sellers knocking on doors in the Hendon area.

At shortly before 12.55pm on Thursday, October 24, two men called at an address offering televisions for sale.

However when the purchaser opened the box it turned out to be empty.

Sergeant Tom Connor said: “If anyone is in doubt about any cold caller at their home they should refrain from handing over any money.

“We would also ask people to report any suspicious vehicles or people they see in their neighbourhood as soon as possible.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact them.”

Anyone who believes a caller is suspicious can contact police on the 101 non-emergency number.
