Eight men charged over fight on day of Sunderland vs Newcastle match

EIGHT men have been charged with affray following a fight in Newcastle.

Police were called to an incident near the O2 Academy and Star Pub in Westgate Road on Sunday October 27, the same day as the Sunderland vs Newcastle match.

Officers said the fight happened in the road and caused a number of cars and pedestrians to stop.

They arrested nine men in connection with the incident and eight have been charged with affray.

They are:

Steven Office, 48, Mead Walk, Walker, Newcastle

Michael Office, 29, Warrenmor Lane, Leam Lane estate, Gateshead

James Office, 26, Orchard Grove, Brompton, Northallerton

Trevor Reid, 49, James Street, Dipton, Durham

Paul Munro, 31, Hutton Street, Gosforth, Newcastle

David Carter, 28, St Edmunds Terrace, Dipton, Durham

Colin Leightley, 24, Finespark, Anfield Plain, Durham

Jordan Carter, 21, St Edmunds Terrace, Dipton, Durham

They are all on bail and will all appear at Magistrates’ courts in Newcastle and Gateshead on February 13 and February 21.

Bail conditions mean that the eight are not allowed to enter licensed premises in the city centre area of Newcastle.
