Drunk woman abused police who tried to break up fight

A WOMAN spouted abuse at police as officers tried to separate her from a another woman she was fighting with.

Prosecutor Lee Poppett told Sunderland Magistrates Court: “At shortly before 1am police on duty saw Megan Donaldson fighting with another female outside the New Tavern Public House in Washington.

“The officer took hold of Miss Donaldson, who shouted and tried to pull away from the officer.”

Donaldson, 25, of Sulgrave Road, Washington, was told to calm down but she continued to shout and swear and was arrested. She admitted being drunk and disorderly.

Jason Smith, defending, said: “Megan hwas the victim of an assault by another lady. She had no idea who was grabbing her from behind.

She was given a six-month conditional discharge with £50 costs and £15 surcharge.
