A DRUNK walked into Gillbridge police station, shouting and swearing, and asked to be locked up.

Duncan Eggleston was warned about his behaviour on the afternoon of October 19 but continued being abusive, Sunderland magistrates heard.

Eggleston, 37, of Milburn Street, Millfield, admitted being drunk and disorderly.

Gavin Sword, mitigating, said: “He goes to the front office and invites police to lock him up and police duly lock him up.”

He was given an 18-month discharge.
