THE hunt is on to trace an offender after a drugs farm was found in Sunderland.

Police executed a search warrant at an address in St Mark’s Crescent, Millfield, where they discovered more than 300 cannabis plants with a potential street value of several hundred pounds.

Acting Neighbourhood Inspector Lisa Laverick, who covers the area, said: “We have recovered a substantial amount of drugs and taken them out of circulation.

“This activity should act as a clear warning to anyone involved in cultivating illegal drugs that we will take action to disrupt their criminality.

“Enquiries are on-going to trace the offender, and these will continue until the person responsible for cultivating these plants is caught.”

Anyone with any information should contact Northumbria Police on 101, extension 69191.
