A CANNABIS farm filled with up to 50 plans has been uncovered in a Sunderland home.
At 1.40am today police received a report of men acting suspiciously in Ryhope Road, Grangetown.
Officers attended an address in the street and following inquiries recovered cannabis plants.
Between 40 and 50 plants were recovered together with associated heating and lighting equipment.
No one was in the address at the time and inquiries are ongoing to trace the occupants.
Extra officers are in the area.
Sergeant Mark Thompson said: “Reporting suspicious activity is exactly the right thing to do and in this case officers made enquiries and recovered cannabis plants.
“These are drugs that will be destroyed and will not reach the streets of Sunderland and the force.
“I’d urge anyone who sees unusual or suspicious activity in their local area to contact police.”
