Driver charged with attempted GBH with intent after car smash

A DRIVER has been charged after a man was struck by a car in an early-morning incident in South Tyneside.

It happened at about 2.30am yesterday, in Dulverton Avenue, South Shields, when a vehicle collided with two cars in the street and then struck a 28-year-old man.

He suffered cuts and bruises and received treatment from paramedics.

Paul Summerly, 40, of Donside Close, Boldon Colliery, has been charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage to property, dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He will appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on February 9.
