A DRIVER denied falsely reporting his van as stolen.

Michael Bromley is alleged to have told police his Ford Transit had been taken after it was involved in an accident.

Bromley, 27, of Goodyear Crescent, Gilesgate, Durham City, appeared before Durham Crown Court where he pleaded not guilty to perverting the course of justice in July of last year.

Judge Christopher Prince set a trial date for the week beginning May 27 and granted Bromley unconditional bail.
