Drink driver caught behind wheel in Sunderland without licence or insurance is banned

A DRINK driver did not have a licence or insurance.

Samirul Miah was nearly twice the legal limit when he was stopped by police in Durham Road, Sunderland.

Miah, 21, failed a roadside breath test after officers pulled over his Vauxhall Corsa on the evening of June 18. A breath test gave a reading of 69 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Miah, of Churchill Street, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court.

He also admitted driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a vehicle without insurance.

Miah, was banned from driving for 20 months. He was also fined £110 for not having any insurance and must pay £85 court costs and a £22 victim surcharge.
