Police appeal after cyclist knocked off bike.

A cyclist received hospital treatment after being knocked off his bike in Sunderland.

The incident happened at 5.20am on October 8 in Chester Road near the junction with the A19 in Penshaw.

The 47-year-old man suffered a back injury and received hospital treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers from Northumbria Police are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident.

It is thought that the man was knocked from behind by a vehicle.
