Delays after police called to incident at Sunderland's Stadium of Light Metro station

Metro services have been delayed by up to 30-minutes due to an ongoing police incident at the Stadium of Light station.

Metro chiefs are reporting delays of up half-an-hour between South Hylton and Airport due to an ongoing police incident at the Stadium of Light station.

It is understood that British Transport Police (BTP) are in attendance, however the nature of the incident is not yet known.

The tweet, posted to the official Tyne and Wear Metro account said: “There are delays of up to 30 mins to trains running between South Hylton and Airport in both directions due to a police incident at Stadium of Light.”
