Deaths of two men in County Durham sparks police warning over dangerous batch of heroin

The deaths of two men have sparked a police warning about a ‘potentially dangerous’ batch of drugs in circulation.

On Tuesday morning, January 12, a 40-year-old man was found dead at a property in Ushaw Moor, near Durham City, while a 31-year-old man was found dead at a house in nearby Bearpark yesterday morning, January 16.

Although police are unable to confirm at this stage whether the incidents are linked, officers have issued a warning to the public that a ‘particularly dangerous batch of heroin may be in circulation’.

Officers are urging users not to risk their life by taking illicit substances and would urge people to seek medical attention should they think it is necessary.

Durham Constabulary have confirmed investigations into the two deaths are ongoing.
