Chat with police on the web

RESIDENTS in two Wearside communities can quiz police officers via their computers.

An online meeting with officers who cover Houghton and Hetton takes place next week, with all welcome to get involved.

Neighbourhood Inspector Lisa Musgrove said: “We want to encourage people to get in touch with us and discuss any policing matters.

“We’re happy to give crime prevention advice about a range of subjects, including keeping your home secure during the summer to prevent opportunist crime.

“Officers are also willing to talk to people about crime or disorder concerns.

“Online visitors can stay with us during the whole meeting, or just for a few minutes, to ask a particular question.”

The virtual meeting is being held on Monday, from 7pm to 9pm.

To get involved go to and go to the Sunderland, Houghton and Hetton online meeting link and join in.

People can ask questions or raise any concerns with officers and other members of the public who log on.
