Car that crashed and overturned in Sunderland was stolen

A NISSAN Micra which crashed in Gilley Law was stolen, police revealed today.

It overturned in Silksworth Road, shortly before 12.35am yesterday.

Emergency services attended and two youths, aged 16 and 19, were cut free from the silver car, which had earlier been stolen in a burglary at a house in Longmeadows, East Herrington.

They were taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries to their legs.

Detective Inspector Mark Ord, of Sunderland Area Command, said: “It was early in the morning, but someone may have seen a silver Micra car on Silksworth Road before it overturned.”
