TWO cars belonging to the same household were vandalised and broken into in one evening.
Roy Gillett, from New Herrington, was shocked when he left the house to go to work and found both his and his partner’s cars had been damaged by thugs.
The window of his blue Vauxhall Corsa had been smashed with a rock and all the wiring in their white VW Polo ripped out.
Mr Gillett, who works in Peterlee, said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw the cars.
“My partner is a care worker and so she had to phone a friend to pick her up so she could get to work.
“I was meant to be going to work as well, but had to wait to get them fixed.”
The police are treating the Friday night incident as an attempted theft, but no arrests have been made yet.
