DETECTIVES today made a fresh appeal for help to find key witnesses as they hunt a mugger who attacked a pensioner.

The 71-year-old suffered a broken wrist and head injuries after being dragged to the ground as she struggled to hold onto her handbag.

Investigating officers are renewing their appeal after Monday’s attack in a lane behind the Spar shop in Cleveland Road.

They would like to speak to the driver of a red vehicle that was making its way along Cleveland Road at the time of the robbery, which took place at about 2.30pm.

They would also like to speak to a woman, aged in her 20s, who stopped to help the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 03456 043 043 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
