Burglars threaten Sunderland pensioner with a knife

BURGLARS broke into a pensioner’s home and threatened her with a knife.

At 5.40am today police received a report of an aggravated burglary at a home in Lichfield Road, Sunderland.

Two men broke through patio doors and threatened a 60-year-old woman, demanding cash.

One man stayed with the woman while the second man searched the house. They left with an amount of cash.

The woman was left uninjured but distressed following the incident.

Two men were seen running from the scene, along Lichfield Road, Beaumont Street and Faber Road.

One man was described as being just over 5ft tall, of a thin build, in his 30s and wearing a black fleece. The second man is described as having a thin build and wearing a blue jacket.
