“Raiders broke into their home while they were away and ransacked the place, before stealing various valuables. The family are particularly upset about the jewellery that was taken – they are of huge sentimental value to them, and we are eager to locate them as soon as possible.

“Today I am releasing images of these distinctive pieces of jewellery in the hope that somebody may have been offered them, or may have seen them over the last couple of weeks. If you do, please pick up the phone and get in touch.

“We will use every tactic at our disposal to ensure the people responsible are located and brought to justice. I’m now asking anybody who can assist with our investigation to get in touch - your information, no matter how insignificant you feel it may be, could hold the key.”

Anyone with information, or who recognises the jewellery pictured, is asked to contact the police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101 quoting log 230 250820. Alternatively, you can email [email protected].
