Burglar drops knife after raid on home

A BURGLAR left his knife behind after raiding a home in Sunderland.

The intruder broke into a home in Brady Street, Millfield, just after 10pm last night.

Police said the crook disturbed the occupants before escaping through a back door, leaving behind a blade.

No one was threatened or injured but police said an undisclosed amount of cash had been stolen.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary after the incident.

Police are carrying out house-to-house enquiries and officers said extra uniform patrols are in the area to reassure residents.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious.
